New Game Show “Hire Drills” Turns Job-Hunting Frustration Into Laughs
Chicago, IL and Portland, OR – September 12, 2025 – What happens when the job search makes you jump through so many hoops that you decide to turn it into a game show? That’s the premise behind “Hire Drills”, a new YouTube series premiering Monday, September 15.
The premise is simple, if a little absurd: unemployed contestants take on ridiculous job-search-inspired tasks, while a guest judge—just “somebody with a job”—decides who wins.
Challenges range from:
Turning a résumé into an ASMR video
Spinning a sign on the street advertising themselves for their dream job
Applying to real jobs and sending connection requests with absurd prompts
“If the job search were a job, you’d quit it,” says co-creator Nick Lloyd, a senior content marketer who’s currently very available for work. “We wanted to show how bizarre and exhausting this market feels, but do it in a way that makes people laugh and feel less alone.”
Co-creator Carly Reimann, unemployed strategic marketer and brand director, adds, “Everyone’s been there — hitting refresh on job boards, trying to outsmart AI ATSs, and generally feeling invisible. “Hire Drills” flips the script and makes these tasks actually fun. The results are pure comedy. We hope people navigating this market feel seen — and have a little fun along the way.”
